Teacher Trainings Continue For The Decisions For A Healthy Life Style Health Education Project
The second day of teacher trainings for the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style health education project continued at the Villa Verde Hotel in Chisinau. The 26 teachers who are participating in the first round of trainings had a very busy and productive day. The day started with national experts in sexually transmitted diseases and drug and alcohol abuse holding workshops for the participants. The experts facilitated several interactive activities and set aside time for a question and answer session. After the experts shared their knowledge, the CMB staff shared a step by step process of how to facilitate lessons in these subjects following the ERRE model.
After lunch, the teachers continued their training with mock classroom exercises. Groups of two each took turns teaching a particular lesson out of the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style guidebook to the other participants. After each lesson the CMB trainer’s would lead a group discussion about what was successful and what needed improvement. This was invaluable practice that resulted in some great discussions between the participants about the curriculum methodology and the situations that could materialize in the classroom.
The day concluded with a screening of the training video for the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style class that was recently produced at a vocational school in Cahul, Moldova.  Afterwards the teachers evaluated the day and were asked to think of some questions that they would like to ask the experts that will be facilitating workshops on the final day of the training. The second day of the teacher training proved to be a huge success with a plethora of ideas exchanged and a significant amount of knowledge absorbed. CMB looks forward to hearing more from this talented group of teachers tomorrow!
