CMB Begins First Day of Teacher Trainings For The Decisions For A Healthy Life Style Health Education Project
On November 16th, 2011 the CMB Training Center, in partnership with the Moldova Ministry of Education and UCIMP began the first phase of teacher training for the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style health education project. 26 teachers from different regions of Moldova began their quest towards bringing health education to Moldovan schools. This is the first of four seminars that will take place over the next month, which will train a total of 113 teachers to teach the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style curriculum in 97 colleges and vocational schools throughout Moldova starting in January of 2012.
The day started with inspirational speeches from CMB President Veronica Cretu and representatives from the Ministry of Education – Galina Gavrilita and UCIMP – Mr Victor Volovei (Executive Director). After introductions it was time to get to work. The teachers had sessions regarding personal perceptions of what is a healthy life style, the ERRE curriculum model, (evocation, realization of meaning, reflection, and extension) and had workshops with national experts specializing in healthy nutrition, drug and alcohol abuse, and interactive teaching methodologies. The teachers also participated in a number of interactive activities related to exercises in the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style guidebook and followed up with group discussions.
The CMB Training Center thanks all the teachers who are working so hard to bring this important curriculum to Moldovan students. We look forward to the next two days of training with this fantastic group of people!  Furthermore, we are excited that this important step in the Decisions for a Healthy Life Style health education project is finally underway and we are looking forward to a bright future.
